| The Last Post |
| This is my final news update posted to this site as The Torture Garden's webmaster. After 10 years (has it really been that long?) of running Hugh's website, I've decided to move on. The site will be run in the interim by Danny from Invisible Hands Music.
Any updates from now will be posted by Danny - be kind to him!
It's been a pleasure keeping you all informed of Hugh's live dates, releases etc, and I can assure you that the quality of Hugh's website will continue, as it is being left in very capable hands (no pun intended).
I want to thank Hugh & David for the opportunity to run this site, and for the free hand they gave me in how it was designed and run. It's been extremely rewarding watching the site grow over the past 10 years, and I've enjoyed making contact with Hugh's fans from all over the world. Whilst I will certainly appreciate the extra time on my hands, I will miss running the site, and I will miss the day to day contact with David Fagence, but I am left with lots of happy memories - which include the early days of the (sadly missed) "Wired" email list, and the buzz of trying to get Hugh's BEF diary (direct from New Orleans & NY) online as quickly as I could! It's been a real blast.
Ok, Oscar length speech over, I'm off to catch up on 10 years worth of films and books. See you over at the Punkforums! Tony Kinson

It is with great regret that we have lost such a valuable team player as Tony after so many years of total devotion and commitment. He has been there for us 24 hours a day and has never once complained even under (at times) the most intense pressure. This site only existed initially because of Tony’s vision and effort and for that both Hugh and myself thank him from the bottom of our hearts.
We remain great friends and that will NEVER change. We sincerely hope that the many hours committed to our cause can now be put to better use by spending more time on his own life and family. David Fagence

"As soon as it became clear that we were going to New Orleans to record, I had a feeling it was going to be a special moment. The whole album was recorded and mixed in three weeks, which is comparable to the time it took to record Rattus all those years ago. It's a while since we made it now, and I'm glad to see it finally printed up. For some reason, I still feel connected to this one, which is something I haven't felt before."

| A Multitude Of Sins |
Hugh Cornwell's autobiography, A Multitude Of Sins, is published by Harper Collins on October 4th 2004. The book begins with a chapter about Hugh's decision to leave The Stranglers in 1990, and explains, in full and frank detail, why this key moment in UK music history has never been fully explained. The book will also covers the heady days of early punk in London, described by someone who was at its epicentre, along with the Sex Pistols, the Clash and the Damned.
"I had no idea I would find a publisher who would let me write my own book, and I really enjoyed this new experience. In fact, now it's finished I'm missing the process… I'm constantly thinking of things that I've forgotten or missed out, and I wonder if every writer gets that feeling. I've tried to include what people want to hear about me, and I hope it does the trick. Enjoy." Hugh Cornwell September 2004
A Multitude of Sins is published by Harper Collins (ISBN: 0-00-719082-4). |
